Meet the Doctors

​​​​​Dr. Teller earned his doctorate in optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1996 and has been helping local residents see clearly ever since. After graduation, Dr. Teller completed an internship with the Hopewell Valley Eye Associates, as well as several externships with the National Naval Medical Center and Katzen Eye Group.

Dr. Teller and his late business partner Dr. John McTigue felt that the Metropolitan DC area lacked eye care providers that offered both comprehensive eye exams as well as eye assessment and testing services. To meet this need they joined forces, and in 2000, they created Eye Rx and opened our Chevy Chase location.

A proud member of the prestigious National Advisory Eye Council, Dr. Teller works with a team of industry eye care experts to inform and educate the National Eye Institute on the current landscape of vision medicine research and technology.

Dr. Teller continues to serve patients in the DC area and has dedicated his career to providing you and your family with comprehensive and holistic vision care services.

​​​​​Dr. Lobaugh earned his doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in 1997 and has dedicated his career to providing quality eye care services to residents of the Washington-Baltimore area.

Dr. Lobaugh is an affiliate doctor with the top refractive surgeons in the DC metropolitan area, a position that allows him to effectively co-manage a variety of refractive surgeries including LASIK and PRK. He is also certified by the International Association of Board of Examiners in the treatment and management of ocular disease.

In 2015, Dr. Lobaugh joined the Eye Rx team, allowing us to open our second location in Washington. He hopes to continue to serve the residents of the Metropolitan DC area for many more years to come.

​​​​​Dr. Jennifer Sun graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with honors in 2009 and has been providing high quality, personalized eye care to patients of all ages in Northern Virginia ever since. Dr. Sun’s clinical training includes externships at the Boston VA hospital, the prestigious Capital Eye Consultants, See Clearly Vision and The Eye Institute’s pediatric department. Combined with years of clinical experience in private practice, she has gained extensive knowledge in managing complex ocular conditions and pediatric eye health. Her approach combines evidence-based care with a compassionate, patient-first mindset. Dr. Sun routinely co-mangages with local industry leading ophthalmologists for cataract, LASIK/PRK, keratoconus patients including pre and post surgical care. Over the years, she has also developed a special interest in myopia management and has treated thousands of kids in slowing down the progression of nearsightedness.

Continuity of care is very important to Dr. Sun. She believes that preventative care is just as important as managing existing conditions. This is done through state of art technology and highest level of knowledge available in eye care. In order to achieve these goals, Dr. Sun as decided to partner up with Eye Rx founder Dr. Ben Teller to open up her own private practice. There is special focus on medical eye care with emphasis on early detection of eye diseases, management of systemic health conditions and treatment of ocular diseases and infections.

A proud member of both the American Optometric Association and the Virginia optometric Association, Dr. Sun stays at the forefront of advances in vision science to ensure her patients receive the most effect treatment options available. She will continue to provide the highest levels of primary and medical eye care to the community. When she is not in clinical care, she can be found chauffeuring her two kids to their extracurricular activities and cheering very loudly and proudly on the sidelines.

​​​​​A graduate of George Mason University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Colbourne brings years of expertise in comprehensive family eye care, specialty contact lens fitting, ocular disease management, and surgical co-management (including Laser Vision Correction). He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Northern Virginia Optometric Association.

With a strong background serving the Bristow community, Dr. Colbourne is known for his compassionate care and clinical excellence.
